Brewing new beers and using new ingredients are all part of the fun of running a small craft brewery. You as customers expect new and exciting things and I really enjoy exploring new ingredients and techniques. One downfall of brewing lots of brand new beers is because many of the ingredients change for each brew it's hard to understand the impact of a particular ingredient to it's full extent - enter Wanderlust!
Wanderlust offers the best of both worlds - the malt bill, ABV and yeast strain stay exactly the same whilst each version, or expedition as we call them, has a completely different hop combination. This gives me the flexibility to be able to explore, and wander if you will, whilst the base ingredients give a stable base to work from.
We launched the first expedition of Wanderlust in January 2026 with Idaho 7, Anchovy and Strata hops taking to the stage. We also commissioned local linocut artist Jill at Riverbird Studio to create a one off mountain range piece for the can art. We reuse this art on each can, with a changing colour scheme for each expedition.
The second expedition Wanderlust is now in stock on our webshop and pouring in our taproom. For this version I used BRU-1, Amarillo and Luminosa hops. Luminosa is the showcase hop for this beer and is a relatively new hop, grown by craft hop growers Indie Hops in Oregon. It's a bright, zesty hop with notes of Peach-mango, papaya & guava.
Please let us know what you think of this expedition of Wanderlust and if you have any suggestions for the third version!
